So it has been a while since I have written anything, and I thought I would catch up. I have been preparing wood veneer for pressing lately. This is a recent project that I am so excited about for a client of ours. As part of my wood shop adventures, in between projects, I have also been dusting off showpieces and making new ones to showcase my work. I have gained satisfaction from crafting for my clients under my own roof, with full control of product quality, which is just the way it should be. The thing is, in order to get the job done properly the way it should be, you have to take charge and ensure it is done right yourself, as I have often heard it said, “No, it's gotta be done quickly and cheaply.” In the end, however, the end client is less than satisfied and the work has to be redone or brought back to fix, which ends up being costlier than if it would have been done right from the start. Sigh. My shop next-door-neighbor helped me to move things (which were pretty heavy) around the other day. Sorry. Neighbors have to help each other out, and yes, there IS a LOT of work that goes into maintaining a work space . . . It has been very busy around here with kitchen renovation projects coming in and so many visitors coming by the shop. Hasta la vista.— Fernando Gonzalez
